Chests of drawers, dining tables, dressers, desks and chairs — mostly Georgian through to mid-century, in oak, mahogany, walnut and pine. Honest pieces, waxed and ready for another hundred years of use.
Recently through the shop: a Victorian mahogany chest, a set of six farmhouse chairs, a writing slope with its original key.
Clocks & Watches
Longcase clocks, mantel and carriage clocks, barometers and pocket watches. There is nothing quite like a room with a tick in it — we'll happily talk you through winding and setting before anything leaves the shop.
The longcase by the door usually chimes on the hour. Ask us about it.
Silver & Metalware
Candlesticks, canteens of cutlery, teapots, trays, copper pans and brass oddments. Some polished to a shine, some left with the patina they've earned — collectors know which they prefer.
Hallmarks happily explained, loupes provided.
Ceramics & Glass
Staffordshire figures, blue-and-white, studio pottery, decanters and drinking glasses. From a single jug to a whole dresser's worth — the china shelf is where most people slow down and start pointing.
Wedding present? We'll wrap it properly, in actual paper and string.
Pictures & Prints
Oils, watercolours, engravings and maps — landscapes, portraits and the occasional curiosity that defies both. Many with a West Country connection, most in their original frames.
Empty frames sold too. The good ones go fast.
Curiosities & Collectables
Books and ephemera, scientific instruments, tins, toys, treen and the genuinely unclassifiable. This is the shelf that makes people late for lunch, and we're not sorry.
If you have to ask "what on earth is that?" — that's the one.
After something particular?
Leave your name and what you're hunting — a particular clock, a chair to complete a set, a picture of a certain place — and we'll ring you when one comes through the door. Old-fashioned, like most good things in here.
